Your Riverside Haven Awaits
PRIVATE ACCESS TO THE WHANGANUI RIVER
The mighty Whanganui River is New Zealand's longest navigable river and is of immense significance to Māori. A significant proportion of the river is flanked by steep cliffs and gorges, which renders a sojourn along most parts of the river impossible.
Only three hours South of Auckland or four hours North of Wellington, you will enjoy private access to this majestic river with the glampsite on the banks of one of the few accessible beaches.
CUSTOM MADE LUXURY TENT
Feel at one with nature without compromising on comfort in our custom-designed tent. The only one of its kind in New Zealand, our eco explorer tent emulates the countryside's rolling hills with its fluid lines and spaciousness, using full-size doors and large windows in order to maximise stunning river and rural views.
PURE RELAXATION OR ADVENTURERS PARADISE
Te Awa is in an ideal location along the Forgotten World Highway to either take a break from the busyness of life or get busy with an array of activities.
Our custom tent offers everything you'll need to relax and unwind in luxury or if you're an active relaxer, you can grab a bike and explore the range of trails in the area, canoe down to the Lavender Cafe for a coffee or hop on the Forgotten World Adventure rail carts or jet boat and explore the fabulous King Country.
RURAL NEW ZEALAND WORKING FARM
Experience a glimpse of authentic Kiwi farming, while you drive through beautiful rolling landscape to reach your glampsite.
As Te Awa Glamping is situated on a working sheep and beef farm, we will meet you at the main house then take you to your accommodation. If you have a 4WD you are most welcome to follow us down to your accommodation and leave your vehicle there, otherwise you are most welcome to arrive by canoe, jet boat or helicopter.
ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS GLAMPING
We are passionate about eco-tourism and protecting our unique environment. All aspects of the glamp have been consciously put together in order to provide minimal environmental impact. Furthermore, 10% of profits go directly toward environmental regeneration and protecting our Awa.
Our current plans involve creating a wetland area only a short distance from the tent, as well as riparian planting along the Whanganui River.
WE CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU
Creating a luxury glamping site on our farm was a natural decision for our family of four. We love people and believe in the concept of manaakitanga, sharing hospitality with others so they can relax and enjoy the blessings we have at hand here in New Zealand. Being in such an incredible location we are proud to show off the amazing landscape and many activities nearby.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
